8 Christmas Party Styling Tips from an Event Designer to You

8 Christmas Party Styling Tips from an Event Designer to You

Need some ideas for your Christmas party decor? As mentioned in yesterday’s post, event designers can help create what you envision for your special event – and that includes Christmas parties! The following tips were put together by an Radiant Rose Creates, for those that need an extra bit of help for their holiday party gathering. From simple, to budget-friendly, to over the top, this should get you in the mood to style whatever kind of party you’re going to host. Take these tips and run with them – your guests will love you!

Tip #1
Use what you have! You do not have to buy a lot of things to have an elegant party. Below are a few examples on how to get creative with what you have:

Clear Glass Items
Use a sharpie or metallic paint pen, and go to town! Create elegant glasses with little money or effort.

Even if the vases you have are not even remotely Christmas-themed, you can still use them. Grab some leftover ribbon and wrapping paper, or hit up the 40-50% off sales at Hobby Lobby and Michaels to get a thick roll of Christmas ribbon. Wrap the vase with your product of choice (fabric, even!) and tie it with a ribbon. Insert fake flowers or…

Yes! Take white paint, a vase, and a string of lights or ornaments, and you’ve got yourself a chic mini tree!

Random Ornaments
You know those ornaments that are just so random? They don’t go with anything, they aren’t pretty anymore, or maybe they came in a pack of 12 and you’ve somehow lost or broken 9 of them. Gather them up, and get ready to transform them! Use paint, paint pens, glitter, and Mod Podge to give them a makeover. Even if they’re different shapes or sizes, you can still give them a matching facelift. For example, keep it simple, using metallic silver paint and silver glitter. They’ll match with anything you decide to do now and in the future.

Tip #2
Hit up those sales! I know there are plenty of stores out there, but to name a few… Hobby Lobby and Michael’s always have a 40-50% off sale every year on their Christmas decorations. PLUS, for the things not on sale, they also have a coupon on their website every week. Strategic planning and patience can earn you some really good deals on decor for your Christmas party.

Tip #3
Insert nature. If you’re in an area where you it’s available, pick out of your own backyard or take a walk to find things that will look great as they are or even painted. Pinecones, small twigs, leaves, acorns, flowers and even a bag of cranberries all add a bit of life and feeling to your party, no matter how subtle. If the outdoors aren’t your thing, you can buy fake or fresh (craft store sales are great for this, too!).

Tip #4
Use lanterns inside your entryway. Lanterns can provide a whimsical feeling when paired with a string of lights. You already have several ideas for filling them from the above styling tips! You could also fill them with very small Christmas trees, or even create your own village using several lanterns and small Christmas village scene props (like this one).

Tip #5
Be inventive! Take something “normal” and transform it into something it’s not for the evening! Transform your fridge, door or random piece of wood into a snowman for the evening. Fold those cloth napkins like a Christmas tree. Tape ribbon to your cabinet doors to make them look like a present.

Tip #6
Light it up! Hope you don’t mind, but this post already narrowed down some great ideas for Christmas lights! 25 Gorgeous Ways to Decorate with Christmas Lights.

Tip #7
Take it outside. Yet another post that provides great ideas, DIY Front Yard Christmas Decorating Projects.

Tip #8
Make it smell glorious! Nothing says “Christmas” like the smell of baking and a real Christmas tree. If you won’t have either of those when your guests arrive, you have several options, such as candles or oils, but you could also make your own! Check out these 6 Ways to Make Your Home Smell Like Christmas.

These tips for party decor and styling are so simple and easy, and we had fun putting them together for you. If you use one (or all!), or they help spark creativity for another idea, let us know! We’d love to hear what you have to say.

Share this if you must! 😉 Follow if you like! Thanks for reading!
